Boise

In Idaho we visited the state capitol building in Boise. The dome rises 208 feet into the skyline and is magnificent to gaze upon. The construction of this spectacular sandstone structure began in 1905 and was completed in 1912. It has floor area spanning well over 4 acres!

Salt Lake City

Salt Lake was full of beautifully painted murals. We also stopped to see this double-scooped, delicious oddity. The giant ice cream cone sign landmarks the site of the former Snelgrove Ice Cream Company. The ice cream parlor and factory ran on this site for 50 years from 1929-1990, and the giant sign was erected in 1962. Although the creamery no longer exists today the giant cone remains, and was also famously depicted on the SLC Olympics pin in 2002.
