Iron City

Birmingham is known as Iron City because it is the only place in the world where all ingredients for making iron are present - coal, iron ore, and limestone, all within a ten-mile radius.
The Iron Man statue is of Vulcan, the Roman God of metalwork and the forge. The 56-foot-tall statue was commissioned by Birmingham leaders to represent the city in 1904 at the St. Louis World Fair, and brought back home and proudly put on display at Vulcan Park and Musuem. Other smaller versions of The Iron Man can also be spotted around the city.
Also, during our visit the 2022 World Games were in full-swing - pretty cool!

When we weren't exploring, we hung out with the friendly folks at Good People Brewing. Hugo made a new BFF, the yellow brew truck, and we played corn hole in the court card.
