Give Dad Great Memories For Father’s DayJune 11, 2019
Dads can be really hard to buy for when it comes to Father’s Day gifts. What happens when he’s run out of space for ties? What if he really does have all the power tools he needs?
Instead, this year try giving Dad the gift of an experience with you and the gear that goes with it. Here are some ideas for Father’s Day outings that will create amazing memories that will last forever:
If we did a poll of Northeast Alabama, we’re betting a lot of dads would love a day out in the sun to hang out on the lake. According to Bass Master, Lake Guntersville located in our very own back yard is one of the top 10 bass fishing lakes in the nation, so rent a boat, grab some gear and make a day of it! We’ve got you covered for vests, fishing poles and other gear at Unclaimed Baggage Center, but don’t forget your sunscreen!
Some of the best heart to heart discussions happen when you’re out enjoying nature. Take Dad out for a hike on one of Alabama’s amazing trails. We recommend a hike or ziplining in Little River Canyon close to Fort Payne or make a weekend out of visiting North Alabama’s majestic waterfalls. A beautiful view is always worth a hike to get there! For Dad’s gift, check Unclaimed Baggage for an upgrade to his hiking boots or maybe even a walking stick to make the trek easier.
3. Take a Splash
Hit us up for floats, swim trunks, books and something to hold a picnic lunch for your Father’s Day trip out on the water. We recommend Lake Guntersville State Park to enjoy some fun in the sand and sun (without driving all the way to the coast). It’s just $4 for adults and $3 for kids and offers easy access to restrooms. Plus, there are kayak and SUP rentals available at the campstore. Double win!
4. Take him out for a steak dinner
Your Dad’s not the outdoorsy type you say? That’s ok, we’ve got you covered. Check out the watch or electronics department at UBC for a gift to present over his Father’s Day steak dinner. We promise you’ll be the favorite child - not that Dad will ever admit it.
