From
Atlanta, Georgia...
You have two choices - the scenic
route that takes you through back roads and winds
through gorgeous wooded areas, or the direct
route through Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The
Scenic Route
The scenic route starts by taking Interstate 75 N to
Adairsville. In Adairsville, take exit 306 for Hwy 140
W to Armuchee. In Armuchee, this becomes Hwy 27 N, stay
on to Summerville. In Summerville, take Hwy 48 W to
Hwy 117 (in Alabama). When Hwy 117 splits, take Hwy
40 W to the left. At the bottom of the mountain on Hwy
40 in Scottsboro, turn right onto Hwy 35 N. Go to the
4th traffic light in Scottsboro and turn left onto Willow
Street. This will continue as Hwy 35 N. The store is
ahead approximately 1.2 miles on the left. This beautiful
rural route takes about 2 1/2 – 3 hours.
A few suggestions for this route. First, if it's close
to noon, eat lunch before you leave Atlanta. There are
plenty of restaurants you're familiar with at several
exits as you travel north. The reason is, once you head
west, you'll be in more rural areas where fast food
is hard to find.
The
Direct Route
The direct route is simple. Just take Interstate 75
N to Chattanooga, head west on Interstate 24 W to South
Pittsburgh (exit 152). In South Pittsburgh take Hwy
72 W to Scottsboro. Go approximately 30 miles and exit
on Veterans Drive (Hwy 35 N) and turn right at the traffic
light. Take Veterans Drive to Willow Street and turn
left at the traffic light. This will continue as Hwy
35 N. Unclaimed Baggage Center is ahead approximately
1.2 miles on your left. It takes about 3 hours to drive
the 178 miles between Atlanta and Scottsboro.
